FANTASY GARDEN

Aquarell

description

This male nematode cautiously peeks out from between the canopy of intestinal villi, taking care not to come into contact with the highly dangerous bacteria.

The free art project on the theme of gardens began with sketching various plants in the botanical garden in Grüningen. Experimenting with different drawing and stylistic techniques led to touch drawing, coloured with watercolours.

While searching for a suitable theme, I came across SEM microscope images of human and plant tissue. These alien-looking structures reminded me
of a fantastic garden. In my work, I combined several of these images into one and came up with a little story to go with it. In one drawing, I composed a moment in another, unknown world that is not as far away from us as one might think. After a bookbinding workshop, the individual drawings were bound together with the text and the cover to form a book.
